1969Eswatini Breweries is established in Matsapha with 21 employees, four of which are German. South African Breweries (SAB) owns the company with 100% shareholding. |
1981Eswatini Breweries directors open a new wing of the business in Manzini that specialises in traditional brews. Imvelo becomes the equivalent of South Africa’s Chibuku, and Imphilo the equivalent of Mageu. They call this wing Ngwane Breweries. SAB brings up a need for local ownership and, together with the then Ministry of Industry and Commerce and Tibiyo Taka Ngwane, a 40% shareholding is agreed upon. |
1984Eswatini Breweries further expanded in the Swazi market even further, by targeting the soft-drink market and the Eswatini bottling company is born. |
1995In order to manage costs, Eswatini Breweries ,The Traditional Beer Plant and Eswatini Bottling Company are merged into one business operating under one roof |
2003The amalgamated companies are renamed Eswatini Beverages. |
2016AB-InBev acquires the SABMiller controlling stake in Eswatini Beverages and therefore becomes a new owner of our company. |
